Brought to you by Utah Women in Film & TV and the creators of Side Effect: a short film directed by Andrea Shreeman and Renny Grames. Written by Marty Lang.

A greedy psychiatrist is over-prescribing the wonder drug Panacetlyne when she mysteriously begins exhibiting the drug’s side effects herself.

When Andrea Shreeman and Renny Grames met at Sundance 2019, they were both volunteering for Women in Media and left determined to support each others' careers. They discovered the script for Side Effect written by Marty Lang when they decided to direct and produce a short together for a Women in Media competition.

Long story short their submission was rejected (due to the script being written by a male) and decided to make their film together anyway.

Fast forward through 2020 and on to 2021, Side Effect has had its world premiere at Kansas City Film Fest International and Utah Women in Film & Television is honored to host their a masterclass as an extended perk to their Seed & Spark backers as well as open up the class to the general public.

While they all have their individual strengths, the Side Effect creators all have one thing in common: producing. Join us for a masterclass where they will share their tips for writing, directing, producing & fundraising.

Andrea Shreeman made the commitment that she would emerge from the pandemic as a showrunner, and indeed landed a development deal with a Top 10 Netflix production company. She and her team are currently pitching her True Crime limited docuseries to networks. She EP'd six short series that ran on Verizon, Sprint, Shanghai Mobile and MTV. She has worked on fifteen feature films in various capacities, including as an ep on a Sundance award-winning doc.

Marty Lang is a Professor of Film at The University of Memphis whose producing credits include CHOMPY & THE GIRLS, featuring Udo Kier, THE RIDE, a Web series that world premiered at Sundance 2020, OUT OF MY HAND, a 2016 Indie Spirit Award nominee, and BEING MICHAEL MADSEN, starring Michael Madsen, Virginia Madsen and David Carradine. Marty came to entertainment as a writer, but somehow he ends up producing and acting in all of his projects.

Renny Grames and partner Boston McConnaughey wrote, produced and directed the upcoming sci-fi action feature film Alien Country. Their 2020 goal was to make their film "come hell or high water"... and then, well, hell literally hit in the form of the pandemic, and they still got 'er done. Their super power: making low budgets look like a million bucks. Renny is a working actress and commercial producer. Boston is a commercial director and VFX master.
